Frequently Asked Questions About Korean

Not at all. Unlike character-based scripts, Hangul is a purely phonetic alphabet designed by King Sejong in 1443 so that anyone could learn it quickly. Most students learn to read Korean syllables within the very first 3 to 4 classes!
For undergraduate admission at prominent Korean institutions (such as SKY universities), TOPIK Level 3 or 4 is generally the minimum requirement. English-track programs may require TOPIK Level 2.
